Confederate Defence
The Confederate Defence (Mergan: Konföderale Verteidigung) is the unified armed forces of Mergania and member of the EUDA. The military part consists of the Mergan Army (operating on the land), the Mergan Navy (operating on the water), the Mergan Air Force (operating in the air), the Mergan Joint Medical and Support Services, the Mergan Cyber Force and a civil part. As stated by the constitution, it is only allowed to operate on Mergan territory or since its entry into the EUDA, on territories of allied countries in defence. The only exception is the Armed Special Forces in order to operate abroad. In terms of personnel, it does not count to the largest military forces in the world. However, the excellent funding and the defensive engagement enhance its international prestige.

Armed Special Forces
The Armed Special Forces is an elite special forces military unit composed of special operations soldiers handpicked from the ranks of Mergany's Confederate Defence. The 800 soldiers are trained for:
- airborne operations,
- counter-insurgency and -terrorism,
- covert operations,
- direct action,
- hostage rescue,
- high value targets/manhunting,
- intelligence and mobility operations and
- unconventional warfare on foreign territoy.
Initially, only officers and non-commissioned officers of the Confederate Defence could apply for service with the Armed Special Forces and the subsequent evaluation period. As a prerequisite for entry, a special commando course must have been completed by the applicant. Since a few years, however, applications have also been opened to civilians and enlisted personnel who must complete an 15-month training cycle before the intense Armed Special Forces selection process begins.

The Mergan K-class destroyer is a class of missile destroyers designed as stealth ships. The ships are mainly built by Holm&Voss.

Submarine Type 5
The Mergan Type 5 class is a highly advanced design of non-nuclear submarine developed by Holm&Voss for the Mergan Navy. It features an air-independent propulsion system using hydrogen fuel cells and an additional diesel propulsion. The submarine can operate at high speed on diesel power or switch to the air-independent propulsion system for silent slow cruising, staying submerged for up to twentyfive days without surfacing and with no exhaust heat. The system is also said to be vibration-free, extremely quiet and virtually undetectable.

Transporter T5-class
The Mergan T5-class is a class of multi-purpose warships, mainly built as transport and cargo platform. It can carry troops, landing crafts, vehicles and aircrafts. The ships includes advanced computer technologies and was designed to minimize radar signature to make the ships more difficult to locate and target. In addition a powerful rocket launch system is installed for larger offensive missiles. A fitness center and medical facilities with operating rooms are also available.

The Advanced Air Defense System (AADS) is a mobile medium-range missile and air defense system. It provides a full 360-degree coverage against tactical missiles, aerial vehicles, aircrafts and all kinds of large-caliber rockets.
